"Marawis" as traditional music
This kind of music was once played in Pekan Musik Daerah DKI Jakarta in November, 7th – 8th 1997 in Jakarta Building of Art.
Marawis is kind Tepok Band with percussion as the main instrument.
Marawis name was taken from the instrument that is being used in this orchestra. There are 3 kinds of instrument, first, rebana percussion / little drum with diameter of 10 cm, 17 cm of high, and both of them covered by leather. That instruments is Marawis (usually consist of 4 kendangs). Big Percussion (50 cm of high, diameter 10 cm ) which called hadir and covered by Leather. The last instrument is Tepok Board.
